Interested in joining our team? Here's all the information you need.

Please note that all volunteers must be 13-18 unless you are applying for the global ambassador position. Volunteers should be able to work with English 1 on 1 until high school or college graduation. We give out volunteer/service hours. All work is done virtually. Email speakingenglish2019@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Volunteers can apply within the following positions:

VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE:

English Teachers/Tutors

English 1 on 1's teachers use the lessons, quizzes, and homework created by our lesson creators to administer weekly lessons to our students. Teachers also fill out report cards on their students every other week and are required to attend monthly committee meetings and 1-on-1 meetings once every two months. Teachers are not required to speak the same first language as the student, as all of English 1 on 1's students have a basic understanding of English.

English Lesson Creators

English 1 on 1's lesson creators create high-quality, in-depth lessons for our teachers to use in lessons. Each lesson includes vocabulary slides, a reading analysis section, a homework section, and a quiz. Lesson creators are also required to attend monthly committee meetings.

MEDIA/OUTREACH COMMITTEE:

Youtube Content Creator

English 1 on 1's YouTube Content Creators create videos and animations for our teachers to use in lessons. These videos can be used for analysis in lessons and as promotion of English 1 on 1 on our various social media platforms. Volunteers should have prior video production experience and have significant knowledge in animation or video production software. Volunteers may also be required to attend monthly committee meetings, and help with volunteer/student outreach. Volunteers should create one or two videos every two weeks.

Facebook Content Creator/Manager

English 1 on 1's Facebook content creator manages E1O1's Facebook account. They should create anywhere from 3-4 posts a week, reminding followers about volunteer opportunities, fundraisers, and E1O1 events. Volunteers should have substantial graphic design experience, and should know how to use graphic design applications such as Canva well. Volunteers should have social media experience, specifically experience regarding Facebook. Volunteers will be required to attend a monthly committee meeting as well.

Website Content Creator

English 1 on 1's Website content creators manage our website through Wix. They create weekly blog posts related to English 1 on 1's mission and outreach. Volunteers will be required to attend a monthly committee meeting as well.

Global Ambassador

English 1 on 1's global ambassadors reach out to potential students and English 1 on 1 volunteers in their respective countries. Global ambassadors will be tasked with expanding English 1 on 1’s services to individuals outside of the United States. It is their goal to gain a minimum of ten volunteers and two students in their individual countries. If this is achieved, an International Committee may be created. Applicants should be from countries outside of the United States. Volunteers should be at least 13 or in an undergraduate program. Volunteers should be able to work with English 1 on 1 until high school or college graduation. Previous volunteering or community service experience is recommended, but not required.

FINANCE COMMITTEE:

Online Fundraiser Coordinator

English 1 on 1's online fundraising coordinator will assist our Treasurer in keeping track of our finances through Google applications. They will be in charge of creating attractive fundraising campaigns on GoFundMe where they must keep track of and report all donations. Volunteers should be organized, and have substantial experience with finances and Google Sheets.

Event Committee:

Event Planners/Volunteers

English 1 on 1’s Event planners/volunteers plan events and fundraisers for E1O1. Events and fundraisers will take place once every two or three months, but preparation for events could take up to two months. Volunteers are required to attend monthly committee meetings as well. Previous event planning experience is encouraged, but not required.

We hope to see your application soon!
